Archigram
ARCHIGRAM is a duo composed of Jean Morris & Nicolas Archyp, two Parisian guys who discovered Detroit in the Early 90's... However their own tastes weren't always the same: while Nicolas learnt playing the guitare by listening to Iggy Pop & the Stooges, Julien toured in Parisian club as a DJ ... After they met, they started producing music, developing a style witch is quite unique and a bit quite to describe: it's a sort of dark & rock house music where angry guitars are mixed with old keyboards, but it has a cluby feeling ...
The band began his carrer on CRYDAMOURE with a first 12" released in 2001 "Mad Joe/in flight". The first track is hypnotic and captivating whereas the second is more funky in its "Raw Mix" version. One year later "Carnaval" is released and we already feel that their sound is darker. This feeling is comfirmed by the very dark "Doggystyle" , released in 2003, witch is a cover of "I wanna be your dog" from the favourite band of Nicolas, The Stooges...
While their 12" have a pretty success in UK, the duo stars making their forthcoming first album. Even thoughwe have no news from CRYDAMOUR, Archigram come back on KITSUNE. In 2004 they released "Padre" , which is a track contributing to "Kitsune Midnight" project (even if it is not included in the compilation). This track is a sort of bend for the band, instead of keeping doing the same thing, they opened new point s of view to House Music. "Padre" has got this obstinating harpsichord, whitch could be from a party a the time of Louis XIV, the classical binary house structure is replaced by a more interesting ternary one, witch breaks with the rules that were already established... A bet that won't be appreciated by purist but it let us think that ARCHIGRAM has a beautiful future !
